Cochineal (Dactolopius coccus) is used for the production of Cochineal Extract. Today’s carmine acid is a dyestuff for the food industry, in the past it was a dyestuff for textiles for red, pink fuschia and orange colors. Our Cochineal extract contains 50% Carminic Acid which is the active component of the extract.
