These woodstains are alcohol soluble powders that will not fade on exposure to sunlight as will ordinary alcohol soluble dyes. They are generally dissolved in methyl alcohol and then used to stain whatever wood you desire. They can also be added to lacquer to color it by dissolving it in a mixture of ethyl alcohol and diacetone alcohol.
