Rosin is also known as Colophony. It is the resin that remains after the distillation of raw pine gum to produce Gum Turpentine spirits. Rosin is graded by color with WW being the lightest and FF is one of the darker grades. It is used for manufacturing varnishes, driers and pigments. The FF grade can be used to make bow rosin.
